DO NOT use this service. They advertised a "free quote," but it was used as a high-pressure trap to exploit a stressful emergency situation. I accidentally backed into my garage door, leaving it jammed half-open and my car completely trapped inside. Because I was home alone with my toddler, I urgently needed help. The technician arrived and immediately took advantage of my vulnerability. He immediately provided me a worst-case scenario, claiming the entire door was broken and quickly quoting $2,000 for an emergency replacement. When I realized how unreasonable this was, I explicitly asked him to leave and offered to pay his standard call-out fee just so he would exit. He refused to go. Instead, he shifted his tone to pressure me that he came out all the way. All I wanted was for him to lift the door so my car could get out—which we verbally agreed would cost $300 to "make safe." Feeling completely trapped, intimidated, and desperate to free my car, I finally relented because he would not leave my property. He spent less than 20 minutes on a minor adjustment with zero parts used, demanded an immediate bank transfer on-the-spot for $840.07, and acted like a "hero" to justify the extortionate cost. When the tax invoice later arrived (Invoice #1006), it showed a massive $694.00 labor charge (an hourly rate of nearly $2,000) They have completely ignored our formal emails to resolve this unconscionable pricing and illegal tax collection. The matter has now been officially lodged with the Queensland Office of Fair Trading and the ATO. I am leaving this review so no one else will go through the same experience as I did.
Honestly deserves 0 stars. I paid $1,089 for a garage door motor replacement and it failed in about four weeks. A technician attended and said it should be handled under warranty—then nothing. I’ve made repeated calls, asked for escalation, and was repeatedly told “someone will call you back”, but no one followed through and no repair was booked, leaving me with a door that is not working for months now. Taking payment is easy; standing behind the work is clearly not. Avoid.
I requested a quote to repair my Gate Motor. They phoned me back to book an appointment within seconds from loading the request on their website and they scheduled a Technician to go and have a look. I asked that they please give me a quote BEFORE doing anything to the motor. I added my father as the contact person for when they arrive so that he could open for them. They informed my father that they need to take the motor to their workshop to be tested and to supply a quote. (please note that I wasn't contacted at all during this) The next day, I got in touch with GDR to find out why they took my motor off site without my permission or my knowledge seeing that I am the person that requested the quote, to which they replied that they spoke with my father. I received a quote where it would be cheaper to by a new motor and when I informed them that I am not accepting the quote, I was informed that I now need to pay a R650 call out fee. I referred back to the website where it is stated they give free quotes, and I was told that the Technician went out to site, did diagnose and quote on the fault. I wasn't contacted about the quote at that time nor was my father informed of a quote. My father was told that they had to take the motor to do a quote, but yet it was stated to me the tech did a quote. I had to pay a call out fee, just to get my motor back after they never contacted me in the beginning when the Technician was on site. This could have worked out better if they followed simple requests to phone the person that asked them to quote. The quote thus isn't free as stated on the website and should you not opt in for the repair then, only are you informed about the mystery call out fee. Please work on your communication to your clients and also remove the "Free Quote" from your website as it isn't free.
Technician came out for an inspection within 2 hours of initial request. The door was put back on track, broken hinges replaced, cables replaced, motor limits reset and door serviced within an hour. Very pleased with the overall outcome and would highly recommend.
GDR were very professional. Communicated well, went the extra mile to get my roller door up and running on the same day despite running into installation difficulties due to configuration of my garage. Highly recommend!
From the moment I called up great customer service! I had no idea about how to get a new key for my garage door and I wasn’t made to feel silly for asking questions or not knowing stuff haha. I called while I was at work but when I got home had a call from the tech asking for some photos of the unit so he could make sure he got me the right keys. I was called 40mins from arrival to let me know they are on the way and upon arrival was greeted by a friendly bloke who fixed my garage door keys in minutes. 10/10 recommend!
