Macquarie Garage Doors was disappointing from start to finish. The original site assessment (Gate Automation) failed to identify that the recommended 65 mm gate stopper was completely unsuitable due to the slope of my driveway. This should have been obvious during the quotation process and resulted in the gate pushing through after installation. Without consulting me, my manual gate latch was cut off, causing damage to the gate paintwork and plastic locking receiver. This was never authorised or discussed beforehand. I later discovered mounting bolts had not been properly tightened and washers had not been fitted. These are basic installation standards that should not have been overlooked. The gate then failed to operate reliably and, on multiple occasions, my dog escaped because the gate would not remain securely closed. That was incredibly frustrating and could easily have ended much worse. Rather than accepting responsibility for the installation issues, I was expected to pay additional money for a magnetic lock to overcome problems that arose from the installation itself. I found this completely unreasonable. When I raised my concerns, I was met with resistance & only after I made it clear that I was prepared to pursue the matter through NSW Fair Trading that the company agreed to remove the cost of the magnetic lock from the invoice. I ultimately paid the revised balance simply to bring the matter to an end. In my experience, there was very little accountability, very little ownership of the issues and far too much effort required on my part to achieve what I considered to be a fair outcome
